Aims
BIOALIMENT work for and contributes to the implementation of the principles of modern biotechnology relating to raw material processing, increase of nutritional value and functional roles of food, in order to ensure food quality and safety. At the same time, the platform BIOALIMENT evolves research and educational programs in the fields of food bioadditives and bioingredients obtaining, bioprocesses modeling and engineering, waste bioconversion and environment protection.
The major objectives of this platform relate to:
- Human resource formation, at a national level, specializing in the field of biotechnology, through master’s courses, honours courses, PhD programmes, and postdoctoral fellowships.
- Infrastructure’s completion, straightening and diversification in order to cover the same ground of performance as the international research institutions; increase the competitiveness while growing the circle of external partners.
- Thorough multidisciplinary research in fields like microbiology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, genetics and genetic engineering, bioprocesses engineering, bioprocess modeling, creating a system centers for the elite academic research teams from Romanian universities.
- The establishment of the requirements for the involvement in international research programs, with the intention of attracting European and other international funding and establishing the reputation of Romanian research in biotechnology.
- The educational programs are target towards senior students who are interested in continuing their graduate studies with a research project. These projects are considered in such a manner that would fructify and, at the same time, expand the student’s knowledges and lab work skills acquired over the last academic training years. The students get familiarized with the lab equipment existing at the platform, the standard analytical procedures, and the way research papers are elaborated and thought.
